ERICA BROWN  Cheyenne amen

Our 2019 lineup of live music was incredible!  If you want the real deal, you came to the right place.  We've got live blues in the flavors of Chicago, New Orleans, Delta, Funk, Jazz and Soul!

Is the reason Signifyin' Blues is happening.   The event is a fundraiser for Barbara's museum, the CA Jazz & Blues Museum.

Walker and Jimmy Smith. keb' mo'

4x Grammy winner. 11x Grammy nominee and visionary roots music storyteller, Keb' Mo' has cultivated a reputation as a modern master of American roots music.  His genre-blending artfulness, intuitive lyrics, unique guitar style, distinctive voice, and magnetic charisma on stage have gained him the significant honor of being called "a musician's musician." He is literally a living legend.  In addition to playing at the White House for President Obama, he has collaborated with Taj Mahal, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Dixie Chicks, Albert Collins, Big Joe Turner,  Bonnie Raitt, Barbara Morrison, Martin Scorsese, Booker T Jones, Joe Walsh, Shelia E. and many, many others.  Seeing Keb' Mo's incredible and heartfelt live performance in person is an experience you will never forget!

Brother Yusef has been described as a master solo guitarist, as well as a uniquely passionate vocalist. His performances are as raw, honest and real as the genre has ever aspired to be. Honed over thirty years, he calls his multifaceted style, fattback blues for it’s a rich mix of Delta , Chicago and Texas blues alongside a hard driving Louisiana stomp. Fattback Blues combines "traditional" fingerpicking and slide guitar playing with the contemporary feel of urban blues, rock and funk.  He uses his right hand thumb to beat out a percussive bass-line and shuffle, while the index finger plays rhythm and lead lines, creating a full band sound with a solo guitar.

Cheyenne amen

Born to Jamaican parents in the Bronx, New York, Cheyenne Amen (b. Cheyenne Dunbar) has been writing, performing and producing music since he was a teenager. He discovered his love for music at an early age by imitating the sounds of instruments he heard on the radio. Cheyenne's mother recognized his talent as he sang and danced to the old-school Jamaican Soul & Jazz records she would often play, and placed him in the Brooklyn Boys Choir at age 8. Cheyenne moved to California's Inland Empire in the early 90's, forming and participating in various musical acts in a wide range of genres including HipHop, Reggae, Afro-Fusion (of various types), Jazz, Blues, R&B, Soul, Rock, & Jarochero. In 2018 Cheyenne released his first solo EP, entitled “Kalafia Echoes”, produced by Srikala Roach. Cheyenne is also the frontman and lead singer for Glifos, a 13-piece Afrofunk/Vodou-funk collective from Los Angeles, CA, who released their first self-titled EP in the Spring of 2018.

Miss Erica Brown is a bona-fide Blueswoman from Denver, CO. She has worked with some of the finest artists in the world, and has shared stages with such heavyweights as B.B. King, Al Green, Delbert McClinton, Tab Benoit, Kenny Neal, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Bob Margolin, Janiva Magness, Todd Park Mohr (Big Head Todd) Billy Branch, “Mud” Morganfield, and Debbie Davies, to name just a few.  Erica will be MC-ing the event and singing.

Playing powerful, stripped-down covers and originals in a jazzy-blues groove is the Blaux Bros specialty.  Michael Birnbryer and Jared Noble formed the band after they started blues dancing and an organizer friend wouldn't stop bugging them to make a band.  Michael has performed in some amazing bands including Breakestra, the Sidewinders, and Tom Kenny & The Hi-Seas (aka Sponge Bob Square Pants' real life band!).
